“We should all be lifelong learners,” said Stephen Tomlinson, superintendent of schools at Broadalbin-Perth Central School District. “Even as educators who devote our life to teaching others, we should continue to learn.”

Research shows that teacher quality is the single most powerful influence on a student’s achievement. According to NYSED, “it is essential to ensure that teachers are provided with ongoing, high quality professional development to sustain and enhance their practice.”

Educators agree professional development is an essential element in an ongoing, comprehensive school improvement plan.

The best professional development is collaborative, experiential and research- and data-based, said Stacia Snow, social studies teacher and lead outreach facilitator at Tech Valley High School. “We look at where the students are now and what research says is the best way to help them grow.”

Our Commitment to Health and Safety
The health and safety of all of our students continues to be our first priority in the wake of the evolving situation around the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). We encourage everyone in our school communities to listen to facts and not respond to fear.

It’s important we come together as a community and support one another as neighbors during this time. COVID-19 is not more likely found in any one race or nationality, and we must each model inclusion and actively work to combat bias in our workplaces and communities.

    Important Precautions
It is critical that all of us continue to practice general viral infection prevention measures including:
Wash your hands with soap and water often.
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or sleeve when sneezing or coughing.
Do not touch your face with unwashed hands.
Do not shake hands. Instead, wave or elbow bump.
Monitor your health more closely than usual for cold or flu symptoms.
Get your flu shot – it’s never too late.
Reduce overcrowding by walking or biking to work, if possible.
If the train is too packed, wait for the next one.

  • Covid Information
